What You're Eating

The RSVP prompts a selection of your entree, but we just found out that you don't need to decide until that night!  The waiter at your table will ask you your preference between: Salmon, Steak, or a Vegetarian option.  Please feel free to still select a meal preference, its fun to see what you choose. Can't wait to celebrate with everyone!!

Photos

Our blog is looking a little bland, so we've decided to add a few more photos.  First photo is of us at a Yankee's game that we went to on the second weekend in September.  Second and third photos were taken on our vacation to RMNP in Colorado this past August.

When and How to Get There

Hi Everyone,

It occurred to us that we left the time off our invitations.  Our wedding will begin at 6pm!  That is the time that The Boathouse will open so you can come and find your seat.  We are planning on starting the ceremony at 6:15pm.  The park is open to the public at all times, so we encourage you to explore while you are here.  Below are a few ways that you can get to The Boathouse, if you still have questions, please feel free to contact us!

BY SUBWAY:
Q, S, or B trains to Prospect Park Station.  Follow the sign for the Flatbush Ave. / Ocean Ave. southwest corner exit.  Turn left as you come out of the subway and walk towards the traffic light at Ocean Ave.  Cross the street to Prospect Park.  Turn left into the brick paved park entrance (Willink Drive).  Uniformed park staff will direct you to The Boathouse.  It is a short walk along the drive to the Boathouse path.

BY CAR:
From Manhattan via Manhattan Bridge: Go straight on Flatbush Ave. approximately two miles to Grand Army Plaza.  Go halfway around traffic circle and continue on Flatbush (Botanic Garden on left, Park on right).  Just after you pass the Zoo and Lefferts Historic House on your right, turn right into the brick - paved Park entrance (Willink Drive, one hundred feet before the traffic light at the intersection of Empire Blvd. and Ocean Ave.)  Uniformed Park staff will direct you to the parking area.

From Long Island via Brooklyn - Queens Expressway West:  Exit at Tillary Street, make left at first traffic light onto Flatbush Ave. (see above directions from Manhattan via Manhattan Bridge).

BY FOOT:
If you are staying in Park Slope you can walk through the Park to the Boathouse if you are wearing comfortable shoes and have a good sense of direction.  There are entrances to the Park at 9th Street, 3rd Street, Garfield St, and Grand Army, from any of those entrances you will find yourself on "the outer loop" a road that loops around the whole park.  If it is nice outside it will be full of runners and cyclists.  Take a left (going against traffic) and eventually you will find yourself at the Boathouse. The Boathouse is not directly on the road, but you will run into one of the park staff who can direct you to the Boathouse path.  WARNING: From the 3rd Street Entrance to the Park it is still at 1 1/2 mile walk to the Boathouse.

CAB or CAR SERVICE:
More and more you can hail a yellow taxi in Park Slope.  Taxi drivers probably wont be familiar with getting to the Boathouse, so have the above direction handy.  We like to use Castle Car Service, the number is 718.499.9333.  You can call in advance or call right when you need to be picked up, but there is sometimes a little bit of a wait.

Where to Stay, Surprise it's Marathon Weekend!!!

Hi All,

We are working on getting invitations out to you soon, but in the meantime I know that several of you have already begun to plan where you are staying.  Here are our recommendations with pros and cons for each.  Also a WARNING, our wedding falls on Marathon Weekend.  The NYC Marathon draws a lot of people from all over the world to every borough, so book your accommodations ASAP!  Our neighborhood is right on the race route, and while that doesn't necessarily mean that participants and spectators will be staying in our neighborhood, there is a chance that things will fill up faster then usual, so book early just in case.

Option #1:  Airbnb
https://www.airbnb.com/s/Park-Slope--Brooklyn--NY?checkin=11%2F01%2F2013&checkout=11%2F03%2F2013&guests=2

The above link will take you to search results for 2 guests arriving 11/1/13 and leaving 11/3/13, for Park Slope Brooklyn.  If you know other people coming to the wedding we recommend trying to share a bigger space, you may save some money.

Pros: Cheaper and more fun than most hotels, will allow you to stay in a great part of our neighborhood.
Cons: Rentals may be filling up fast, and you'll have to coordinate your stay with the owner of the property.  We've used Airbnb before and were very happy with the experience.

Option # 2: Holiday Inn Express
http://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/us/en/brooklyn/bxyln/hoteldetail

Pros: Closer than the other hotel option. Right across the street from Dinosaur BBQ.
Cons: Pricey.

Option #3: Best Western
http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/US/NY/Brooklyn-hotels/BEST-WESTERN-PLUS-Prospect-Park-Hotel/Hotel-Overview.do?propertyCode=33147&cm_mmc=PTI-_-local-_-feed-_-33147

Pros: Cheapest Hotel Option in the area.
Cons: Its about 1 mile from our neighborhood, so walking to our area might be out of the question.  You can drive to the Boathouse, and you can also take the subway or a taxi to our neighborhood from there.

Hope this helps! Please contact us if you have any questions.

Prospect Park Boathouse

We are very excited to be hosting our wedding at the Prospect Park Boathouse in Brooklyn, NY!  Greg took this photo a couple weekends ago, while fly fishing at the pond.  For us, the Boathouse at Prospect Park is the ideal place to host our wedding.  Not only is the Boathouse beautiful, but the surrounding park is where we spend a lot of our time, so it feels like our own backyard.  Prospect Park is only a few blocks from our apartment, and is one of our favorite things about our neighborhood.

We think our wedding will be a great opportunity to share everything we love about our neighborhood with you while you are here.  We'll be posting ideas for all sorts of things you can do during your stay, sharing our favorite restaurants, stores, and activities.  Looking forward to celebrating with you!
